Freescale Semiconductor has announced that its MC44S803 silicon tuner has been selected by Chinese DTV STB manufacturer Jiangsu Yin He Electronics. Digital STBs are being widely deployed throughout China as the nation migrates from analog to digital TV technology. Silicon tuners are key to the design of new STB devices capable of addressing DTV requirements. "The DTV boom in China has established an industry chain which has raised the bar higher for product development," said Gu Hongchun, associate general manager of Yin He Electronics. "Demand is high today for minimal integration, low power consumption, stability and shorter design and production cycles. These requirements create the need for new application technologies such as silicon tuners. Yin He Electronics selected Freescale’s MC44S803 silicon tuner because of its high performance, low power consumption and ready-to-manufacture design, which shortens time to market." "Digital STB devices are becoming increasingly popular in China, and Freescale is working actively with leading OEMs such as Yin He Electronics to provide world-class DTV set-top RF front-end tuner solutions that help speed and simplify design and manufacturing," said Y.K. Ho, Freescale’s director of marketing and business operations, network and computing systems group, Asia Pacific region. "The MC44S803 delivers the perfect balance of high performance, low power and simplified design to meet Yin He’s advanced requirements for next-generation DTV STBs." (() |
